Belarusian “Cyber Partisans”, together with the hacker group Silent Crow, have claimed to have breached the internal IT infrastructure of Russia’s Federal State Statistics Service, Rosstat.

According to Silent Crow, the hackers gained access to the agency’s central office, regional divisions and the Main Interregional Centre for Processing and Dissemination of Statistical Information. The group claims that about 25,000 computers came under its control.

The hackers say they extracted about 23 terabytes of data, including internal documents, databases and official information. They say the materials obtained include information on Russian military losses in the war against Ukraine.

“The bulk of the data consists of databases, internal documents, official information and data from employees’ work computers. The scale of what happened goes far beyond the compromise of individual servers or user accounts. This involves penetration of the infrastructure of a federal agency, with access to central and regional systems, internal networks and data holdings of state and official value,” the statement said.
