https://reform.news/en/belarus-to-dissolve-another-national-lutheran-association/The Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs decided on August 27 to dissolve the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belarus. “Christian Vision” drew attention to the information in the Unified State Register.
The association was registered in Babruisk. It is now listed in the register as being in the process of liquidation.
This is the second national Lutheran association to face a dissolution decision in 2026. Earlier, “Vitsyebskaya Viasna” reported that the Vitsyebsk Regional Court ruled on August 26 to dissolve the Religious Association of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belarus for failing to undergo mandatory re-registration. It is still listed as active in the Unified State Register.
Dissolution decisions have also affected two local Lutheran communities in the Mahiliou region. On April 26, the Mahiliou Regional Court ruled to dissolve a community in Mahiliou, and on July 15, the community of John the Baptist in Klicheu. Both are in the process of liquidation.
Another Lutheran community, St John’s in Hrodna, was removed from the Unified State Register on March 23, 2024. The reason is not specified in the register.
Thus, in 2026, four decisions to dissolve Lutheran religious organisations and one earlier removal from the register have become known, the authors conclude.
