Conscripts Begin Deployment to the Armed Forces Today

The Belarusian Ministry of Defence has begun sending conscripts to the armed forces. As the ministry’s press service reported, starting from April 23, new recruits performing compulsory service will begin arriving at formations and military units.

“On the first day, around 1,000 conscripts will be sent to the troops. They will reinforce the Special Operations Forces, the Minsk Military Commandant’s Office, the 72nd Guards Joint Training Centre, the 361st Base for Security and Maintenance, as well as the bodies of the border service,” the press service said.

In total, about 10,000 people are expected to be called up for service. Around 600 people are planned to be assigned to reserve service during the same period.

The military oath ceremony is scheduled for May 23.
