“Chernobyl Way 2026” Held In Vilnius — Photos

Belarusians in Vilnius took to the streets to commemorate the victims of the Chernobyl tragedy on the 40th anniversary of the disaster. A run, a cycling event and a rally were held. Among the participants were the head of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s office in Lithuania Dzianis Kuchynski and freelance adviser on environmental issues Dmitry Kuchuk.

A flower-laying ceremony in memory of the victims of the Chernobyl disaster also took place in the Lithuanian capital today. The event was attended by representatives of Tsikhanouskaya’s office, Nobel laureate Ales Bialiatski, representatives of environmental organisations and activists, as well as diplomats from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Italy, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Sweden, Estonia, Poland and the Netherlands.

From Tsikhanouskaya’s office, Dzianis Kuchynski, adviser on parliamentary cooperation Anatol Lebedzka and Dmitry Kuchuk took part in the ceremony.

“Chernobyl is a tragedy that affected the lives of millions of people, left a deep mark on the history of Belarus and remains in our shared memory to this day. Our duty today is to preserve the memory of the victims and the truth about the consequences of this disaster”, Dzianis Kuchynski said.
