A ceiling slab measuring 1.5 by 6 meters sagged on the first floor of a nine-storey residential building on Pobedа Avenue in Vitsyebsk.
The Emergency Ministry received the report at 12:28 today. Thirty-four people, including four children, were evacuated from the entrance. No one was injured, the Emergency Ministry said.
A city emergency commission is working on site. The cause of the incident is being established.
The commission decided to reinforce the sagging slab with telescopic supports. After this, residents of the building will be able to return to their apartments. A separate decision will be made regarding the return of residents to the affected apartment and the one above it.
The evacuated residents are currently staying in a heated pneumatic shelter installed by Emergency Ministry personnel. The Red Cross has organized food and hot tea.
