In Homiel, traffic police detained a 49-year-old driver of the Brahin-Homiel minibus service who was driving while intoxicated. Members of the public noticed the driver and reported him to the police.
There were no passengers in the vehicle when it was stopped. The driver said he had been drinking after dropping off his passengers and then decided to move the minibus. A breath test showed more than 0.8 parts per thousand of ethyl alcohol in his breath.
As a result, the driver was fined 200 base units and banned from driving for five years.
It was also found that the driver had not undergone a pre-trip medical examination. An official responsible for allowing the minibus to enter service was held administratively liable. He was fined eight base units, the traffic police department of the Homiel Regional Executive Committee reported.
