Belstat Publishes First Data On Remote And Platform Employment In Belarus

The National Statistical Committee has for the first time published data on remote and platform employment in Belarus.

According to the statistics agency, in 2025 about 0.5% of those employed in the economy worked through digital platforms, while 0.8% worked remotely.

Within the structure of remote employment, 49.7% worked in the information and communications sector, 21% in professional, scientific and technical activities, 11.4% in trade, 4.9% in education and healthcare services, and 3.1% in transport and logistics.

Belstat also presented a statistical profile of a remote worker. On average, such a worker is 35.4 years old, 79.7% have higher education, and 37.9% have children. About 63.1% of remote workers are employees. Men account for 50.6%, while women make up 49.4%.

In the structure of platform employment, taxi services dominate with 31.6%, followed by goods sales (19.4%), IT work and services (17.9%), delivery and household services (14.3%), and education, legal and tourism services (10%).

Among those working through platforms, 41.1% are self-employed and 49.1% are employees.

Men account for 63.4% of platform workers and women for 36.6%. The average age is 37.1 years, 46% have higher education, and 45.8% have children.
