Polish customs officers intercepted Belarusian cigarettes that were being smuggled on a freight train, the Tax and Customs Chamber in Białystok reported.
At the Siemianówka border crossing, the train was scanned. Image analysis indicated that cigarettes could be hidden beneath one of the wagons. A detailed inspection uncovered nearly 10,000 cigarettes and a GPS tracker concealed in structural elements of the lower part of the wagon.
The market value of the seized goods is estimated at more than 10,000 zlotys ($2,700). An investigation has been launched.
