Polish authorities have dismantled an international group involved in money laundering. Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński announced this. According to Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW), those detained include a Belarusian woman and Ukrainian nationals.

“The services have dismantled an international group involved in laundering money obtained through investment and cryptocurrency fraud. Nine people were detained, and the total value of transactions exceeded 337 million zlotys (approximately $87 million — Reform.news note). Gold and cash worth more than 1 million zlotys (nearly $260,000 — Reform.news note) were seized,” the minister said.

According to an ABW statement, those detained include eight Ukrainian nationals — three women and five men — as well as a Belarusian woman.

According to Polish law enforcement, the group was led by a 34-year-old Ukrainian national. He made key decisions and controlled the domestic and international movement of funds obtained from illegal sources. The money was laundered through currency exchanges and fictitious gold purchases.

The suspects were detained in Warsaw, Łódź and the Małopolskie Voivodeship.

By court order, six suspects were remanded in custody for three months and one for two months. Two others were released on bail. They remain under police supervision and are prohibited from leaving the country. The press release does not specify what preventive measure was imposed on the Belarusian woman.
