Belarusian Who Attacked Child at Sheremetyevo Sent for Compulsory Treatment

Belarusian national Uladzimir Vitsikau, who threw a child onto the floor at Sheremetyevo Airport, has been found legally insane and sent for compulsory psychiatric treatment, the Moscow Region Courts’ Joint Press Service reported.

The case was heard by the Khimki City Court in Moscow Region. Vitsikau was charged with attempted murder of a minor motivated by hooliganism.

The incident took place at the airport on 23 June 2025. Vitsikau, while under the influence of narcotics, grabbed a two-year-old child, lifted him up and forcefully threw him to the floor. The boy was hospitalised with skull fractures.

An expert examination found that at the time of the offence Vitsikau was unable to understand the factual nature and social danger of his actions or to control them. He was declared legally insane and released from criminal liability, with placement in compulsory psychiatric treatment “in a specialised inpatient facility with intensive supervision”.
