A Belarusian citizen listed in the Interpol database at the request of the Belarusian authorities has been detained in the Polish city of Gdynia.
Passers-by in Gdynia complained to police about four men grilling food inside an abandoned building, Gdynia police reported.
Officers arriving at the scene found that one of the men did not have identity documents. He was also unable to confirm that he was staying in Poland legally. A check of police databases showed that a decision had previously been issued refusing the 46-year-old Belarusian citizen permission to stay in Poland. In addition, he was listed in the Interpol database as a person wanted by the Belarusian authorities in order to establish his whereabouts.
The Belarusian man was detained. He is expected to be handed over to border guards and deported from Poland in the near future.
