Tsikhanouskaya: Why Turn Our Country Into a Target for Nuclear Retaliation?

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya reacted to the drills involving military units responsible for the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support announced today by the Belarusian Defence Ministry.

Tsikhanouskaya said it is necessary to stop Alyaksandr Lukashenka, whom she accused of turning Belarus into a target for nuclear retaliation.

“Belarusian and Russian armies are currently conducting exercises in Belarus involving the use of nuclear weapons. The country that suffered more than any other in the world from the Chornobyl disaster, from the ‘peaceful atom’, is once again becoming a nuclear threat — and a target. Could we ever have imagined this?

But the same thing happened with the war: we kept hearing ‘as long as there is no war’, yet the war in which Belarusian territory was used, making our country a co-aggressor, is now in its fifth year.

And all this at the will of one man.

Why turn our country into a target for nuclear retaliation? For Belarus to be peaceful, Lukashenka must be stopped. He is leading us toward a major disaster,” Tsikhanouskaya said.
