Belarusian Tradition Festival SONCAHRAJ Held in Poland — Photo Report

The SONCAHRAJ Festival was traditionally held in Podlasie at two locations. It began on June 12 at Kościuszko Market Square in Białystok.

Performing on that day were the women’s singing group BARVY (Gdańsk), the men’s group KASARY (Warsaw), and the PADLASKI WIANOK dance group for children and youth (Białystok).

On June 13, the celebration continued in the village of Wiluki (Dubicze Cerkiewne municipality). Invited guests included BARVY (Gdańsk), KASARY (Warsaw), and the folklore studio of Podlasie Belarusians ŻEMERWA (Studziwody).

The festival programme featured live instrumental music, traditional singing and a communal singing gathering, as well as dance workshops and social dancing.

The SONCAHRAJ Belarusian Tradition Festival showcases authentic Belarusian groups as well as various activities, including traditional Belarusian dances and communal singing. It was created by the TUTAKA Foundation with a specific goal: to develop genuine, non-stage Belarusian culture.
