The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews invites visitors to attend the temporary exhibition “The Power of Words. On Jewish Languages,” where a printed mini guide in Belarusian is now available.
For centuries, Jewish communities lived in the lands of Eastern Europe, including the territory of present-day Belarus, and contributed to shaping the local cultural and linguistic landscape. The exhibition shows how language became a space for the development of culture, religion, and identity. Among the original exhibits are a Babylonian ritual bowl, a Sephardic Torah dress, ancient gravestones with Greek epitaphs, and amulets with inscriptions in Hebrew.
The exhibition рассказывает about the languages that accompanied Jews in the diaspora — in particular, Hebrew and Yiddish, which were widespread among Jewish communities in Central and Eastern Europe.
It is also noted that visitors to the POLIN Museum can choose a Belarusian-language audio guide for the main exhibition.
