A Belarusian citizen has been detained for illegal stay in Poland and sent to the Lithuanian border under the rules of the Dublin Regulation.
Officers of the Border Guard checked the Belarusian citizen on 25 February in Lesko County in the Podkarpackie region. It was established that he was staying in Poland illegally. The man had previously applied for international protection, but the head of the Office for Foreigners discontinued the proceedings in his case. Under EU rules, his application must be examined in the first country through which he entered the Schengen area — in this case, Lithuania.
Following the inspection, the Belarusian was detained and, under escort by Border Guard officers, transported to the Polish-Lithuanian border, Poland’s Border Guard said.
