Belarusian Beef Destroyed at Russian Border

Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of 1.5 tonnes of Belarusian beef.

The vehicle was stopped at the Krasnaya Gorka checkpoint in Russia’s Smolensk region. The carrier was unable to provide accompanying documents for the meat. It was also established that the carcasses bore no official stamps, and the cargo compartment of the vehicle was not equipped for transporting such products.

Rosselkhoznadzor deemed the meat to be unsafe and of unknown origin. It was destroyed. The carrier was brought to administrative responsibility.
