Diplomatic adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Dzianis Kuchynski, met with Pedro Urruchurtu, head of international relations for the team of Venezuelan democratic leader María Corina Machado. The meeting took place at Tsikhanouskaya’s Office in Vilnius.

The sides discussed expanding cooperation between Belarusian democratic forces and Venezuela, as well as other Latin American countries. They agreed to develop contacts with politicians, parliamentarians and civil society representatives across the region with the support of Venezuelan partners, and to prepare joint events involving Machado.

The Belarusian and Venezuelan democratic forces plan to work toward holding a joint parliamentary conference entitled “Two Paths to Freedom: Venezuela and Belarus Against Dictatorship” in 2027, as well as organizing expert meetings with representatives of Latin American countries focusing on democratic transition, overcoming the consequences of dictatorship and holding those responsible for repression accountable.

They also plan to expand ties with parliaments, human rights organizations, universities and independent media in the region and hold joint events in Latin American countries, Tsikhanouskaya’s Office reports.

The meeting also focused on opportunities for mutual support on international platforms.

“Belarusians and Venezuelans are united by their struggle for freedom and democracy. We agreed to expand contacts in Latin America, hold joint events and seek new partners,” Kuchynski said.
