The Belarusian government has limited state support for the purchase of imported seeds for agricultural needs. The relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn.
The document предусматривает the redistribution of budget funds in favour of seeds produced in Belarus, as well as certain types of imported seeds that are not produced domestically in sufficient quantities for objective reasons, including alfalfa, maize and vegetable seeds, the government’s press service reports.
State support for seed purchases is provided in the form of concessional loans and direct budget payments. Under a Council of Ministers resolution dated January 12, 2026, the provision of concessional loans for the purchase of imported seeds has been restricted. The document amends a 2014 resolution that defines the procedure for granting subsidies for seed purchases from local budgets.
In 2026, subsidies totalling 26.9 million roubles have been allocated from local budgets for seed procurement.
