Belarus Plans to Train One-Third of All Reservists in Territorial Defense

A training assembly for senior territorial defense officials is being held in the Viciebsk Region. According to the Belarusian Defense Ministry, the event is devoted to “Territorial Defense as the Main Factor in Ensuring Stability During Wartime.” The exercises were observed by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Paval Muraveika.

During the theoretical part of the program, participants attended briefings on the military-political situation around Belarus and the fundamentals of territorial defense. The practical component included training in ambush tactics, protection against drones, engineering preparation of deployment areas, operations in pairs and small groups, and the organization of checkpoints and guard posts.

Muraveika said that requirements for territorial defense are becoming more stringent and that the number of training activities and reservists involved will increase every year.

“We will direct approximately one-third of our reservist resources to these purposes in order to provide training in every corner of our country,” he said.

According to Muraveika, each region currently conducts three to four command-and-staff exercises annually involving the mobilization of reservists.

“Only by making the defense of the state a nationwide cause can we achieve success and preserve independence, territorial integrity, and freedom,” he said.
