Belarus Granted EAEU Quota for Duty-Free Imports of LED Modules

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has granted a tariff benefit for the import of certain types of LED modules (code 8539 51 900 1 of the EAEU Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity) intended for the production of LED lamps to three countries. The benefit has been allocated to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Belarus will be able to import 38 million modules, Kazakhstan 30 million, and Kyrgyzstan 23 million units.

“The decision is aimed at supporting manufacturers of LED lamps in EAEU countries, ensuring import substitution of final products, as well as reducing production costs and increasing competitiveness,” said the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Minister for Trade Andrei Slepnev.

The benefit will be granted upon presentation of a document confirming the intended use of the goods. The decision will enter into force ten calendar days after its official publication.

At the same time, the Council of the Commission instructed that a proposal be considered at the next meeting of the EEC Board to increase import customs duty rates on LED lamps from 0% to 5% of their customs value.
