Belarus Defense Ministry Begins Armed Forces Staff Exercise

The Belarusian Defense Ministry has begun a joint staff exercise of the Armed Forces. It is taking place from January 13 to 16 under the leadership of Chief of the General Staff Pavel Muraveyka.

“The goal is to develop the optimal procedure for employing groupings of troops (forces), other troops, military formations and paramilitary organizations under one of the possible scenarios of an escalation in the situation directly linked to a threat to Belarus’s military security,” the ministry’s press service said.

The exercise is described as one of the elements of the Armed Forces’ training year and as laying the groundwork for further training activities of the Armed Forces.
