The Belarusian government has approved the procedure for allocating the annual quota for importing Chinese-made spark plugs without paying anti-dumping duties. The relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn.
The document was adopted as part of the implementation of decisions by the Eurasian Economic Commission allowing the duty-free import of spark plugs from China within the quota established for each member state.
For Belarus, the annual quota is set at 1.8 million spark plugs. Anti-dumping duties are waived for imports within the quota, provided the importer holds the required license.
Outside the quota, an anti-dumping duty of 17.23% of the customs value of the goods imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union will continue to apply.
Under the resolution, the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade will issue one-time licenses to foreign trade participants for product imports within the allocated quota.
The government said the new procedure would help preserve the existing import structure, ensure that the quota is used by traditional importers and prevent an artificial increase in the number of suppliers to circumvent the existing restrictions.
