The joint Belarusian-Russian Osvey aircraft is planned to be assembled at the Sokol plant in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The two sides are currently agreeing on possible additional costs required for production.
“There have been quite a lot of difficulties in terms of coordinating with the customers, because there are both civilian and military customers. There were difficulties at the preliminary design stage as well. So now, once we finally complete the design documentation, the approximate cost of continuing this work will become clear. We are currently coordinating with the Belarusian side on how we will divide the possible additional costs caused by the new requirements,” Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov said (quote via Interfax).
According to the Russian minister, the project will be discussed in Minsk on August 25.
The aircraft’s production and assembly are planned to take place at the Sokol plant in Nizhny Novgorod.
Belarus and Russia signed an agreement to design the Osvey light twin-engine aircraft in 2024. The project involves Belarus’ 558th Aircraft Repair Plant and Russia’s Ural Civil Aviation Plant. Initially, the first aircraft prototypes were expected to appear in 2026. In April this year, Union State Secretary Sergei Glazyev said the aircraft would be ready in two years.
