Belarus and Kyrgyzstan Defense Ministries Sign Bilateral Cooperation Plan for 2026

The Defense Ministries of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan have signed a Bilateral Cooperation Plan for 2026. The signing took place at a meeting between Defense Ministers Viktar Khrenin and Ruslan Mukambetov in Bishkek.

“This year we not only fulfilled but exceeded the annual plan of bilateral cooperation between our agencies. I propose that we also refrain from treating this document as a constant and dynamically fill it with additional activities. We are open to cooperation. We have no closed topics,” Khrenin said.

According to him, bilateral military cooperation between the defense departments is developing successfully.

“The Kyrgyz Republic plays an important role in ensuring stability in the Central Asian region of collective security, which inevitably affects the situation in other regions of the Organization’s collective security.

Belarusian and Kyrgyz servicemen regularly participate in joint activities provided for by the annual Plan for Joint Training of the Command Bodies and Formations of the CSTO Collective Security System,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry’s press service quoted him as saying.

He invited Kyrgyz servicemen to participate in the joint exercise with CSTO peacekeeping forces, “Indestructible Brotherhood — 2026,” and in the special exercise with CSTO CBRN protection and medical support forces, “Barrier-2026,” which are planned to be held in Belarus in October 2026.

Mukambetov stated that Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Defense is interested in further developing cooperation with Belarus’s defense department. He expressed confidence that this would also strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
