BBC Website Declared “Extremist” in Belarus

A court in the Leninsky District of Mahilyow has declared the website “BBC News Russian Service” extremist. The address указан as bbc.com, which is the main website for all BBC services.

The list of “extremist materials” also includes:

  • Facebook accounts “Ploshcha Peramen. Minsk”, “Dzimitriy Pimenau”, “Talaka – Venner af Belarus i Danmark”,
  • Instagram accounts “let_nasta_be”, “ruparbdmu”, “Ranitsa z Belsatam”, “yuliya_warszawa”, “Release: NOW”, “pink_scarves”, “nasta.bazar”,
  • the Threads account “liauchuk_al”,
  • websites “BISS. Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies”, “Narodnyya Ambasad y Belarusi”, “Novaya Gazeta Europe”,
  • the YouTube channel and TikTok account “Vecharovy Kefir”,
  • the website and social media of the Kamarouka project, which describes itself as the first Belarusian international marketplace.

It should be recalled that extremism charges in Belarus are used to target opponents and dissent in general.
