Banks Flooded Legal Entities With Loans in December

In December, banks sharply increased lending to legal entities, according to statistics from the National Bank. The growth in lending exceeded 30 percent.

In December, banks issued loans to legal entities totaling 22.75 billion rubles, which is 5.1 billion rubles more than in January. This is 32.6 percent more than in the same month of 2024.

Overall, in 2025 legal entities received loans totaling 194.3 billion rubles, or 15 percent more than in 2024.

The volume of short-term lending over the past year increased by 13.1 percent compared with the same period of the previous year, reaching 164.65 billion rubles, while long-term lending grew by 26.3 percent to 29.63 billion rubles.

As of January 1, the debt of legal entities to banks on loans amounted to 66.04 billion rubles. Over the month, it increased by 1.785 billion rubles. Over the year, total debt grew by 12 percent.

Overdue debt of legal entities on short-term loans decreased by 1.1 percent over the year to 28.3 billion rubles, while debt on long-term loans increased by 24.4 percent to 37.74 billion rubles.

Overdue debt of legal entities to banks as of January 1 reached 845.5 million rubles. It increased by 519.1 million rubles in December. Compared with January 1, 2025, overdue debt increased by 111.5 million rubles.
