The documentary by Belarusian director Andrei Kutsila “Listy” / “Letters from the Silenced Country,” which tells the stories of Belarusians who have experienced imprisonment, repression and forced emigration, has received the Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary.
The Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary is presented at the Venice Film Festival as an independent award. The prize recognizes feature-length documentaries from the festival’s official program that demonstrate outstanding filmmaking and address pressing social issues, calling for cultural change.
As a reminder, on September 9, at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, the world premiere of Andrei Kutsila’s “Listy” / “Letters from the Silenced Country” took place, making it the first documentary from independent Belarus to be screened in the official program of the Venice Film Festival.
