Airspace over Vilnius and Kaunas airports was reopened at 2:35 a.m., the airports’ press services reported. Air traffic had been temporarily suspended on October 24 at 20:36 due to meteorological balloons that reportedly came from Belarus.
Officials said some flight delays may occur during the day due to disruptions in crew and aircraft rotations. Passengers whose flights were affected or canceled because of the restrictions are advised to contact their airlines directly for further information.
Lithuania temporarily closed border checkpoints with Belarus in response to the incident.
