The Investigative Committee has completed its investigation into the death of an 18-year-old job applicant at an amusement park in Mahiliou.

The incident occurred on May 1. The young man was operating the Salto ride without the skills required to perform the work safely.

“At the end of the operating cycle, he failed to secure the balancing arm with the carousel in place before removing the passenger restraints, violating safety requirements. During passenger unloading, the balancing arm moved spontaneously after the load shifted. The young man suffered a fatal head injury and died at the scene,” the Investigative Committee said.

The 25-year-old manager of the amusement park has been charged under Part 2 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code (“Violation of safety and other occupational health rules by an official responsible for compliance with them, resulting in the death of a person through negligence”).

Investigators believe she allowed the young man to work without an employment or civil-law contract, a knowledge assessment on industrial safety and occupational health requirements, a medical examination, training, an internship and initial safety briefing.
