Belarus has begun supplying potash fertilizers to the United States. Aliaksandr Lukashenka said this at the Obuz-Liasnouski training ground. According to him, available volumes are being sent to US buyers. At the same time, he is demanding the return of money stuck in the United States.
“We contracted them for this year. We will consider next year. We are loading potash now — selling it to the United States of America. If you want potash fertilizers from us (if you want to buy them) — please. We cannot do it immediately. Here, we have some volumes that have become available. We contracted them for this year, and we will consider next year. Now there is an opportunity to load a vessel (we will definitely finish loading tomorrow) — take it.
But return what you owe us. $43–44 million of our money is stuck at Citibank — a company that cooperated with us paid the money. It is stuck in wealthy America. Please return this money to us. The government reported this to me in writing. Return the money! This is a disgrace for the United States. Then we will negotiate more serious things with you”, he said.
It was previously reported that US President’s Special Envoy John Coale is expected to visit Minsk in the near future. Earlier this week, media reported that he planned to arrive in Belarus on September 14.
“We are open. They have lifted sanctions on a number of our enterprises and are ready to lift more. There are a lot of issues. Embassies — let’s discuss how we will resume [their work]. Nuclear materials and other things — we have a whole program there — please. If you want to buy potash fertilizers from us, if you want to buy them — please.
I said openly that I am a Trumpist, I supported Trump. I see his mistakes. I tell this directly to his best friend, who is supposed to come to us”, Lukashenka added.
He said he is ready to meet Trump.
