All the missiles were directed at Kyiv and the Kyiv region. As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported, energy infrastructure was once again the main target of the strikes.
According to him, the attack caused serious disruptions to electricity, water and heating supplies in Kyiv. Residential buildings and the Northern Bridge were damaged, and a kindergarten was partially destroyed. In the Kyiv region, Russian forces attacked substations connecting the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants to Kyiv and Ukraine’s central regions.
In addition, electrical substations were damaged in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Besides Kyiv, a further 12 regions of Ukraine came under attack. Nine people, including a child, were injured. Repair and rescue operations are continuing in the affected regions wherever the security situation allows.
“Russia is preparing for trilateral talks while carrying out missile strikes against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure,” the Ukrainian leader said.
He called on the United States to step up its support for Ukraine amid continued Russian strikes. According to him, Ukraine is counting on increased bilateral assistance from the United States and greater attention from the US Congress.
“Thank you to all our people who defend the country against this terror every day, carry out repairs and do everything possible to help Ukraine get through the winter. But when Russia is trying to plunge Kyiv — a city of millions — and the entire country into a blackout, Ukraine cannot be left alone. We are counting on stronger bilateral support from America. We are counting on greater attention to Ukraine from the US Congress. This is because Russia is constantly increasing the number of its strikes,” he said.
Zelenskyy stressed the importance of keeping support for Ukraine among US policy priorities and called on both US parties to unite on security issues, condemnation of Russian aggression and increased sanctions pressure on Vladimir Putin.
“It is important that support for Ukraine remains among US policy priorities. We are counting on unity between both parties on security issues, support for Ukraine, condemnation of Russian aggression and increased sanctions pressure on Putin. America’s resolve and consistency in supporting Ukraine are of great importance in bringing peace closer,” the Ukrainian leader said.
