A youth side event titled “The Unbroken Generation” will take place in Poznań on May 19 as part of the third Congress on Political Prisoners of Belarus #WithoutJustCause.
The event will feature a panel discussion on the role of students in the events of 2020 and the situation of repressed youth, as well as a presentation of research by the Belarusian National Youth Council RADA on the current needs of young people.
An essay collection titled “The Unbroken Generation. Voices of Belarusian Youth 2020” will also be presented, in which young Belarusians speak about their resistance, repression and hope.
“Behind every case involving young political prisoners are real people with their own stories, feelings, dreams and hopes. This evening is about them. We must tell these stories in order to remember and to prevent these experiences from disappearing into silence, to remind everyone that the price of freedom is always high,” said Deputy Representative for Youth Policy of the United Transitional Cabinet Aliaksei Hrachouski.
The event is organized by the Office of Belarusian Democratic Forces in the Czech Republic under the patronage of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and with the support of the Czech branch of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung foundation. It is held in partnership with the Representation for Youth Policy and Students of the United Transitional Cabinet, Bělaruské studentstvo ČR, the Belarusian National Youth Council RADA, and the Belarusian youth organization LICHTAR.
The event will take place on May 19 from 17:00 to 20:00 at Sala Lubrańskiego, Collegium Minus of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Registration is open until May 18 via email at withoutjustcause@tsikhanouskaya.org.
