An oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl was targeted in a drone attack overnight. Local authorities have acknowledged that damage was caused.

“Last night, electronic warfare and air defence forces repelled a large-scale attack by enemy UAVs on the oil refinery in Yaroslavl. A total of 124 drones were involved. The refinery’s infrastructure was damaged. Emergency services are working to extinguish the fire,” Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said.

He added that falling debris from downed drones shattered windows in residential buildings and damaged cars.

Slavneft-YANOS has a processing capacity of 15 million tonnes of oil per year. The facility produces motor and aviation fuels. The refinery has been targeted in attacks on several previous occasions.
