Warsaw Court Schedules Hearing in Case of Attack on Pavel Latushka

The Warsaw-Śródmieście District Court has scheduled a hearing in the case concerning an attack on Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus and Head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka. The hearing to consider the indictment against Yauhen Kazantsau will take place on March 5, 2026, the press service of the United Transitional Cabinet reported.

The attack occurred on July 2, 2025, during a ceremonial event marking the 35th anniversary of the Centre for East European Studies at Warsaw University. The attacker was identified as a 33-year-old Belarusian citizen, Yauhen Kazantsau, who threw a trash bin at the politician. Kazantsau was fined and deported from Poland.

Kazantsau has been charged under articles related to defamation and violation of bodily integrity (Article 212(1) and Article 217(1) of the Criminal Code of Poland).

According to Latushka, the attack took place against the backdrop of previously received threats to his life and health, as well as after public disinformation statements made against the politician by Alyaksandr Lukashenka on July 1, 2025.
