Ukrainian Drones Destroy Iskander System and Two Tu-142 Aircraft at Taganrog Airfield

During the night of May 30, Ukraine carried out a strike on a military airfield in Taganrog. Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Madyar” Brovdi reported the destruction of an Iskander operational-tactical missile system and two Tu-142 aircraft, long-range anti-submarine planes based on a strategic bomber platform.

According to him, the strike was carried out by the 1st Operational Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces in coordination with the newly established Deep Strike Center.

As Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar reported, the attack affected several facilities and localities across the region. In the port of Taganrog, a tanker, a fuel storage tank and an administrative building caught fire. The blaze was later extinguished, and, according to the governor, no fuel oil spill was recorded.

A drone struck a private house in Taganrog, injuring a man and a woman. Both were hospitalized in moderate condition. In the village of Grekovo-Timofeyevka in the Matveyevo-Kurgan District, drone debris caused a gas pipeline fire and damaged a roof and windows. Residents were evacuated. In the Neklinovsky District and the city of Salsk, windows in residential buildings were damaged.

According to Slyusar, nearly 50 drones were shot down while repelling the attack. In addition to Taganrog, strikes were reported in Rostov-on-Don, Salsk, and the Chertkovsky, Matveyevo-Kurgan, Neklinovsky, Millerovsky, Tarasovsky, Sholokhovsky and Verkhne-Donskoy districts.
