Following repatriation efforts, the bodies of 528 people killed in the war were returned to Ukraine. According to the Russian side, the remains may belong to Ukrainian servicemen. Investigators and forensic experts will carry out all necessary procedures to identify the repatriated bodies, the Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said.
The repatriation was made possible through the joint work of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Interior Ministry, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and other security and defense sector agencies.
Ukraine expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance in carrying out the repatriation efforts.
