Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed decrees introducing a new package of sanctions as part of Ukraine’s alignment with the EU’s 20th sanctions package. The restrictions apply to 16 Russian nationals and 31 companies from Russia, Belarus, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the occupied territories of Ukraine, the Office of the Ukrainian President said.
The sanctions list includes enterprises linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex, manufacturers of electronic warfare systems, software and drone components, as well as oil, gas and gold extraction companies. In particular, sanctions were imposed on Atlant Aero, a Russian manufacturer of aerospace products and drone components, and Irz-Svyaz, a producer of communications systems and components for drones and missiles.
Sanctions have also been imposed on companies from the UAE that sell machine tools and laboratory equipment, chemical products and spare parts for commercial aircraft, as well as on a Belarusian exporter of petroleum products.
Among the individuals targeted are Russian prosecutor Lyudmila Balandina, judge Dmitry Gordeyev and propagandist Maria Sittel. Sanctions were also imposed on 19 Iranian nationals, seven Sudanese nationals and 11 Iranian companies linked to the production of ballistic missiles and drones.
“We continue to align sanctions regimes with the EU and our partners. We expect further pressure on Russia and everyone helping it sustain its aggression. We are already finalizing joint work on the next sanctions decisions by the EU and partner states, including the 21st sanctions package,” said Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian president’s commissioner for sanctions policy.
The EU’s 20th sanctions package against Russia included companies linked to Belarus’s military-industrial complex and the regime of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The sanctions list included Volat-Santszyan LLC and Belarusian Oil Company (BNK).
