The prosecutor’s office has sent to court a criminal case against two residents of Kalodzishchy near Minsk. A man born in 1960 and his unemployed son, born in 2005, are accused of facilitating the illegal stay of foreigners in Belarus.
According to the prosecution, the men provided seven foreign nationals with their home for temporary residence. They did not notify the internal affairs bodies. Police detained the foreigners on January 9, 2026.
“Before their detention, the father and son took measures to ensure the foreigners’ covert stay: they instructed them to remain in the house at all times and to move outside in groups of no more than two people. They supplied the ‘tenants’ with food and basic necessities, and also carried out currency exchange”, the prosecutor’s office said.
The accused allegedly earned $840.
They have been charged under Part 1 of Article 371-1 of the Criminal Code. Both defendants are in custody.
