Tsikhanouskaya Pays Tribute in Kyiv to Fallen Belarusians

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya visited memorial sites in Kyiv this morning connected with Belarus and Belarusians, including those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom.

Tsikhanouskaya and the delegation of Belarusian democratic forces laid flowers to commemorate:

Belarusian heroes and participants of the Revolution of Dignity,

Hero of the Heavenly Hundred Mikhail Zhizneuski,

journalist Pavel Sheremet,

classic of Belarusian literature Uladzimir Karatkevich.

“Maidan is a place where Belarusians and Ukrainians fought together for the right to determine their own future. Belarusian white-red-white flags also flew here, and many Belarusians stood side by side with Ukrainians during the most dramatic moments of the Revolution of Dignity.

It is very important for us that in the very heart of Kyiv there is this place of remembrance for Belarusian volunteers who fought not for a foreign country, but for our shared freedom and European future”, Tsikhanouskaya said.
