Tsikhanouskaya Calls Regime’s Vote at UN General Assembly on Ukraine Peace Resolution a Disgrace

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya described Belarus’s vote at the UN General Assembly on the resolution on peace in Ukraine as a disgrace in a post on X.

“It is a shame that Lukashenka’s regime — again — voted against peace in Ukraine at the UN General Assembly. This only proves that neither Putin nor Lukashenka wants peace.
A free Belarus will stand for international law, human rights, and be a reliable partner to the world,”
she wrote.

On the previous day, the UN General Assembly adopted the Ukraine-initiated resolution “Advancing a Comprehensive, Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine.” The resolution was supported by 107 countries, 51 abstained, and 12 voted against. Those voting against included Belarus, Russia, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cuba, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Nicaragua, Niger, Mali, and Sudan. The United States abstained.
