Trump Thanks Lukashenka For “Cooperation And Friendship”

U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the recent 5-for-5 exchange on the Belarusian-Polish border. He said he had fulfilled a request from Polish President Karol Nawrocki to secure the release of Andrzej Poczobut (Andrei Pachobut). The statement also mentioned Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

“We just secured the release of three Polish, and two Moldovan, prisoners from Belarusian and Russian detention. Thanks to my Special Presidential Envoy, John Coale, we were able to push hard to make this release happen. My friend, President Karol Nawrocki, of Poland, met with me last September, and asked me to help secure Andrzej Poczobut from Belarusian prison. Today, Poczobut is free due to our efforts. The United States delivers for our Allies, and Friends. Thank you to President Aleksandr Lukashenko for his cooperation and friendship. So nice!” the U.S. president wrote on Truth Social.

The exchange took place on April 28, 2026. As part of the detainee swap, journalist Andrzej Poczobut was taken to Poland. The operation was carried out directly by the Belarusian KGB and Poland’s Intelligence Agency.
