Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou said that all questions regarding the Polish conditions have been resolved. According to him, “the ball is now on the Polish side.”
“They talked a lot about having certain conditions. As it happened, all questions have been resolved today. Please, we are ready to hold consultations with the Polish side at the level of deputy ministers, at another level — some authorized representative, and so on. To begin with, we need to work through the entire range of relations. Someone has to sit down and conduct a clear debriefing on where we and the Polish side stand today across the whole spectrum of relations. I think the foreign ministries should do this,” he said.
According to him, Poland’s neighbors should now demonstrate their intentions, for example in transport and logistics.
“I would give our Polish neighbors time to prove themselves. We have many tasks and many opportunities. If we manage to develop mutually beneficial transport and logistics mechanisms, both sides will only benefit from this. If we find solutions to certain trade and economic issues and cross-border cooperation issues (listen, the railway is not operating, planes are not flying, a number of checkpoints remain closed, the queues are insane), then, of course, one should expect an intensification of contacts,” he added.
It should be noted that a 5-for-5 prisoner exchange was recently carried out, as a result of which Andrzej Poczobut and two Polish citizens were released. In addition, over recent months there have been virtually no attempts by migrants to cross the Polish border from the Belarusian side.
