Over the next five years, the Transport Ministry plans to reconstruct roads exiting Minsk. They will receive concrete pavement and the number of traffic lanes will be increased. This was stated in an interview with Belarusian television by Transport and Communications Minister Aliaksei Liakhnovich.
“Last year, as you know, we completed the M4 highway — the Minsk-Mahiliou road, the exit from Minsk. And this year, in fact not only this year but throughout this five-year period, our main focus is on the roads exiting Minsk. Why are we doing this? First of all, we are trying to make extensive use of concrete. This was an instruction from the president — that we should try laying concrete over asphalt. Based on this, we also plan to apply this technology this year on the road exiting Minsk.
What will this allow us to do? During the spring period, it will allow us not to introduce restrictions. This is primarily important for грузовые vehicles, buses and so on. It will allow us to increase axle load capacity. Moreover, within the existing road parameters, we will create three traffic lanes in each direction on this road. Thus, from Minsk to Zaslawye we will have полноценные three traffic lanes. We will relieve the load on the road,” he said.
According to him, in the future a section of the M6 Minsk-Hrodna highway from the capital to the second ring road will be reconstructed in a similar manner.
