Traffic Police Officers Fired at Vehicle Near Maladziechna

The Interior Ministry’s press service reported another use of service weapons by traffic police officers.

Inspectors attempted to stop a Volkswagen near the village of Valodzki in the Maladziechna district. The driver ignored the signals and continued driving. A pursuit followed.

The driver did not respond to demands to stop. Inspectors decided to open fire. The vehicle was eventually stopped. A 48-year-old local resident was behind the wheel. He had previously been deprived of the right to drive for medical reasons. This time, the man was intoxicated. Officers recorded 1.4 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled breath.

The man was placed in a temporary detention facility, and the vehicle was taken to a secured parking area.
