Thunderstorm Leaves 18 Settlements in Homiel Region Without Electricity

Eighteen settlements in Belarus’ Homiel region have been left without electricity after a thunderstorm accompanied by strong winds. The hardest-hit areas are the Homiel, Zhlobin, and Loyeu districts, Homielenerha reported.

The outages were caused by power line breaks after falling trees damaged overhead wires, as well as damage to utility poles and other elements of the electricity transmission network.

The thunderstorm front also caused other damage in the Homiel and Mahilyou regions. A calf barn collapsed in the Buda-Kashaliova district, while nine vehicles were damaged in the Babruisk district.
