In March this year, students at a school in Hrodna bullied a 14-year-old student. Prosecutors opened a criminal case under an article covering aggravated hooliganism.
According to case materials, students aged 18, 17 and 14 decided to “play a joke” on the 14-year-old teenager. During a break, they grabbed him, dragged him into a school toilet and hung him by his clothes on a hook attached to the wall. The incident took place in front of other students.
The accused recorded the incident on a mobile phone. The video was initially circulated among students and later appeared online.
Administrative proceedings were initially launched, but after reviewing the materials, the Hrodna Region Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case under the article on aggravated hooliganism committed by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code).
“Given that the unlawful actions resulted in physical pain and moral suffering to the minor, taking into account the nature and circumstances of the unlawful actions committed in an educational institution, accompanied by a gross violation of public order and clear disrespect for society involving violence and distinguished by exceptional cynicism expressed through collective humiliation of the victim, the prosecutor’s office considered it justified to initiate a criminal case,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
The case has been referred to the Hrodna Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee for investigation.
