Taxi Driver Sprays Gas in Face of Road Accident Participant in Minsk to Avoid Traffic Jam

In Minsk, a taxi driver sprayed pepper spray in the face of a road accident participant who was unable to move his vehicle from the roadway.

According to the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate, a 26-year-old Minsk resident called the 102 emergency line. He said he had been involved in an accident and was completing a European accident report, which prevented him from moving his MAZ truck off the road.

At that moment, a taxi vehicle was passing by. The driver demanded that the road be cleared, but after being refused, he first drove his passenger to the destination and then returned. Approaching the MAZ driver, he sprayed him in the face with a gas canister and left the scene.

Police officers identified and detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 46-year-old resident of the Minsk District. A criminal case has been opened against the man on charges of hooliganism. He faces up to three years in prison.
