The 80-year-old Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz spoke about his condition after being discharged from hospital. A video address by the hierarch was published on the YouTube channel of priest Aliaksandr Ulas.
Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Aksakawshchyna. He said that after the Gudogaiski Fest, where he felt well, he went for a routine medical check-up. During the examination, doctors performed an electrocardiogram and decided to hospitalize him.
“As I say, an old person is like an old car. No matter how much you spruce it up, it is still an old car. The same is true of an old person — one illness comes, then another. I was never ill throughout my life. In recent years, these illnesses have been coming one after another, and just after the Gudogaiski Fest, where I felt very, very well, I had to go for another check-up with the doctors. I went there, they performed an electrocardiogram and immediately sent me to hospital,” the archbishop said.
Doctors inserted several new stents and also cleared the ones that had been placed previously.
“And today I am undergoing rehabilitation in Aksakawshchyna. I feel well, and I felt well then too. I did not feel that anything was hurting. It was just that the doctors did not like it, they did not like my cardiogram. So, in any case, it is good that they performed the operation, because the doctors said that it was a pre-infarction state. I want to thank everyone for their prayers, for your concern for me, for remembering me. May the good Lord bless you. I hope for a speedy recovery and to meet again in church, at the altar, in prayer, at various festivals — wherever God allows,” the hierarch said.
In 2024, Kondrusiewicz suffered a heart attack and underwent heart surgery. In 2023, he was diagnosed with cancer.
