Education Minister Andrei Ivanets outlined the main areas of work for the education system in the new academic year. Among the priorities, he named flexible schedules for nursery groups, improving the quality of teacher training and developing inclusive education, BelTA reports.
The remarks were made during a plenary session of the seminar-meeting “Preparing for the Start of the New 2026/27 Academic Year” at the Ministry of Education.
Ivanets said it was important to create more flexible operating conditions for kindergartens.
“The focus here is on creating short-term groups for two to four hours, establishing groups operating for 12 hours, and continuing to develop a network of nursery groups for children under two years of age. This should become a key priority in the current academic year so that every young mother can pursue a professional career while raising a child,” he said.
In general secondary education, special attention will be paid to teachers. Starting in the new academic year, a teachers’ school for subject teachers is planned to be launched at the Academy of National Education. Its work will take into account the results of the centralized examination, the national study of education quality and a new pilot project for eighth-graders involving advanced study of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
The development of inclusive education will be a separate area of focus. According to Ivanets, individual educational pathways need to be created for children with psychophysical developmental needs. This concerns not only special kindergartens and schools, but also expanding the network of integrated groups and classes in mainstream preschool and general secondary education institutions.
“Here we see the need to expand the functions of centers for correctional development and education. This is a very important element that ensures access not only to education but also to socialization for parents and children,” the minister said.
