Bus Driver Helped Ukrainian Citizen Smuggle Large Sum Of Money. Criminal Case Opened

Brest customs officers stopped an attempt to bring a large sum of money into Belarus without declaring it. A criminal case has been opened.

According to the State Customs Committee, while processing an international scheduled bus at the Brest border checkpoint, the driver declared a small amount of personal cash. However, customs officers found $32,000 in his pockets and underwear.

It was later established that the driver had agreed to help a Ukrainian citizen who was a passenger on the bus transport the cash. The passenger had hidden another more than $10,000 among his personal belongings.

In total, he attempted to transport the equivalent of $42,000.
